Honeymoon in Europe: Day 7 (Paris)

We had breakfast (coffee and croissant/pain au chocolat) in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral, and decided to climb the tower to the top. We bought a 4-day Paris Museum pass which included entry into almost all of Paris' museums and top sights (e.g. Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Versailles, Notre Dame, etc).

It was a steep climb to the top, but we made it and the views were definitely worth it.

Here's Quasimodo's Bell:

Then we climbed more steps and got to the very top of the tower:

The interior of Notre Dame was really beautiful. The tall gothic columns, beautiful stained glass and soaring ceilings were quite a sight.
We stopped by the Archaeological Crypt for about 10 minutes since it was right in front of Notre Dame. They found the remains of an old Roman city underneath the current city of Paris, and it's been preserved really well.
We walked over to Île St-Louis and listened to some jazz and had a picnic lunch of baguettes and prociutto.
Île St-Louis has some famous ice cream shops (pretty much everyone walks around with an ice cream cone in hand) and we stopped by Amorino to have some gelato. Jay had coffee and chocolate, while I tried pistachio, lemon and mango. The flavours were so intense and delicious.

Sainte Chapelle is a Gothic chapel on the Île de la Cité which is remarkable for its giant
stained glass windows all around the chapel.

Even the floor tiles were ornate:

The Conciergerie is an old prison where Marie Antoinette was locked up before they beheaded her. They re-created her cell, which was a bit creepy (that's her figure in the left corner wearing a black shroud).

We had dinner at Chez Clement in the Opera area, and I had a lovely leg of lamb while Jay had steak, and wine of course. Yum...

We took the metro to the river where we enjoyed an evening cruise on the Seine
