Apparently I'm married to...

...this guy:
Maytag repairman

Before we moved into our new house, the old homeowners had informed us that the washing machine leaked, and the cost to repair it wasn't worth it. I was kind of exasperated that we had to spend $500 or so to buy a new washing machine, but figured that's why everyone says that houses are money pits. Anyway, the washer did leak all over the floor when we tried it. Still, we used it a few times and shoved a mop head under the leaky machine while I continued to remind Jay that we needed to buy a new washing machine. He kept waving me off and saying "okay, we will..." but there were so many house projects to do and our weekends have been so busy that we hadn't found the time to do so yet.

So imagine my surprise a few days ago when a Purolator delivery guy rang our doorbell and I signed for a mystery package. I looked at the box, and it said "appliance part" on it. Hmm...

With the magic of Google and a Youtube video, Jay had figured out which part was likely causing the leak, how to open up the washing machine, and had ordered the requisite part for $40.

Drain pump
Tonight, he spent ten minutes replacing the faulty drain pump and voila - a working washing machine!

"Awesome! We just saved ourselves $500!" I squealed.

"Awesome! Now I can buy a new TV" Jay said brightly.
