Letters to Nathan: Seven Months

Dear Nathan,

Happy seven months! What a busy month full of changes it has been. We celebrated your first Christmas and it was such a crazy holiday season that I only took a handful of photos. We had five Christmas dinners over five consecutive nights, in three different cities. You handled it…okay. I think the lack of routine made you a bit cranky, and you were having a growth spurt at the same time so it wasn’t a very easy time.

The big change around here has been the introduction of food! I’m making you purees and you’ve had mixed reactions to it. Some of it you like, some of it you hate. So far you’ve tried rice cereal, carrots, potatoes, peas, bananas, avocado and chicken. The hits and misses change every day.

Gumming on a banana pop. You promptly threw it on the floor right after this photo was taken

You can sit up unassisted now, but you have to be in the right mood with the right toys in front of you. Otherwise you flop over or arch backwards.

We discovered your first tooth on Jan 3rd! You bit down on Daddy’s finger and he said “Oh. That’s quite sharp. I think we have a tooth!”

You’re nearly TWENTY pounds now! Holy smokes. I’m building quite the biceps lugging you around. I love love love your baby pudge. I make chomping sounds and pretend to eat you. I'm not sure who is more delighted by this - you or me.
You're my hunka-chunka-love. Check out those arms!

Even your wrists are chubby!

Yesterday, Dad and I celebrated our ten-year anniversary. When I remember our first date – in a downtown bar that has since been razed for condo development – I could never have imagined that I would have this life full of love. What an adventure the last decade has been. Can’t wait to see what the next one brings us. All three of us.

Love always,
Mumma
